What is API?

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of protocols that allows different software systems to communicate and share data with each other. APIs define how requests should be formatted, what data can be accessed and how responses will be delivered. In financial services, APIs enable AI platforms to integrate with CRM systems, adviser desktops, telephony infrastructure and compliance tools, creating seamless workflows without requiring manual data transfer between systems.

API in financial services

Financial services firms run many connected systems — CRM platforms, adviser desktops, telephony and compliance tools. APIs let an AI platform exchange data with these systems securely, so information captured in one place does not have to be re-keyed into another.
